When the Throne Arises From Within
What could “a throne arising from within” mean?
Not that human consciousness manufactures G-d.
Not that sovereignty is reduced to subjective experience.
It means that recognition of Hashem no longer depends only upon authority imposed externally.
The soul begins to perceive why Torah is true.
The heart develops taste.
טַעֲמוּ וּרְאוּ כִּי טוֹב ה׳
“Taste and see that Hashem is good” (Psalms 34:9).
Taste is an interior sense.
Someone can tell you food is sweet.
Eventually you must taste.
This is a crucial transition in avodah.
A child obeys because the parent commanded.
A mature person may still obey, but can begin to understand the wisdom and love contained in the command.
The command has not disappeared.
It has become inward.
That is Malchus rising without rebellion.
The throne arises within while remaining Hashem’s throne.
