A sin concealed within the self remains trapped in private narrative.

Vidui brings it into Malchus.

Speech makes the inward acknowledgement manifest.

Then the person returns.

Teshuvah does not eliminate identity.

It restores authorship to the proper level.

I am not the absolute source of good and evil.

I return to Hashem.

The same mouth that sinned can pray.

The same hand can give tzedakah.

The same history can become part of a redeemed story.

Malchus does not require a new person.

It requires a returned person.
